Fat Man

Fri Oct 30, 2009, 6:44 PM

  • Reading: Catch-22/Dracula/Ralph S. Mouse

  • Eating: Fall Food! Squash Soup!
  • Drinking: Beer!
"They call me the fatman, cause I weigh 300 pounds."
No, it's just good blues. Go ahead. Go find it. It's good.

Anyway, I hope you all are well, and happy Halloween!

Halloween is my favorite holiday. Ever since I was little. Anyway, events conspired so that I had something to offer up, despite the urge to edit them both a few hundred million more times. I went ahead and submitted two things I've been working on, in an attempt to provide something in the spirit of the times. I fail at actual horror, though, so you're warned :) At best, I think I got to 'creepy'. Still, all in good fun, and hopefully, fun for you, too.

Anywho, wishing you a happy fall, and Halloween, and general time of life. Enjoy yourselves, ghosties!

-Kitten

PS: For fun, and for those few of you who still keep track of such an itinerant poster, I have some questions:

1)Everybody's got one thing, even if it's only one. So what's the one thing that actually kind of frightens you?

2)Deja Vu? See me once, shame on you, see me twice, shame on me? One good rockin' nightmare from something...perhaps even something non-sequiter.

3) The Rule of Threes: Test yourself. Three lines of three words to make the spookiest (or whatever-est) cryptic triptych verse.

Occasionally, by accident, I am a jerk. When I am, please let me know, and, if the situation warrants it, hit me with a blunt object.

Eyahhh.... sorry. I kinda... spammed it up a bit. Didn't realize I'd gotten behind. Heh, hopefully they'll be worth the spamming! Thanks!

A kitten and a ball of twine
An idle game of fear and trust
Five fathoms of the black silk line
Knotted tight, pulled taut with lust

An idle game of fear and trust
Played on a supple form supine
Knotted tight, pulled taut with lust
The dam-burst flood of light divine

Played on a supple form supine
This long, meandering tune of mine
The dam-burst flood of light divine
A kitten and a ball of twine

Pan-TOOM! And the battle continues.

Well, I wanted to come back and say something more 'decent' than befreo, but Ive read over quite a lot of your poems so far, and to be quite honest with you, I am rather ashamed that I cannot find the words within me to express how good I think you are... erm, so there you go... . Im very, hmm... 'impressed' is the wrong word, although I am, very much. But I would say more, inspired, or possibly in awe. Its uplifting and a breath of fresh air

Well, I'm pleased you could find some good to get out of them; it makes me very proud to hear that they've helped inspire someone. Frankly, I've had trouble thinking of what to say in response to your generous comments, so I hope there's no reason to feel shame at being at a loss for words. (I'm notoriously untimely and sparse with comments anyway, so I do apologize for making you wait). I can assure you, I'm generally just flattered enough that you took the time to comment :)

So thank you very much! It's wonderful to hear that you enjoyed my poems! Thank you, again!

You are more than welcome. When someone with such a natural talent for writing comes along it can make one seem like an intruder in the world of poetry when reading their words. Much like the feeling gained from reading Keats or Poe. I will be watching for more :)
